My ISP is now able to offer ISDN, so I'm considering upgrading my dedicated
line to an ISDN circuit. Owing to local telco billing practices it is most
economical for the ISP to call me. Since I'm only looking to run 64kbps, the
ISP is recommending a BitSurfr ISDN modem at my end (he uses Ascend P400s).
I've lost track of the state of PPP support in Linux. Can anybody summarise
the gotchas that I will encounter if I go this way ? If anyone is actually
doing this - taking an incoming PPP connection from a BitSurfr - I'd appreciate
hearing about your experiences. Also, any comments about the internal model
of the BitSurfr would be helpful.
I gather that there's been a lot of instability with respect to pppd
and recent kernels, what's the consensus at this point ?
Pointers to FAQ's gladly accepted :-)
