Hello everyone !!
I have some information that might prove to be of interest to some of
you !!
Hopefully it's not something everyone knows...
I have a Compaq Deskpro 5133 with an Adaptec Aha-2940 SCSI adapter.
I installed Windows NT 351, OS/2 Warp 3 and Linux on that machine.
When running Linux after exiting OS/2 (warm boot) it seems TCP/IP
does not want to work. However if I run OS/2 and them Windows NT and
then Linux , TCP/IP works fine. If I run OS/2 and power off, Linux
will also work well.
It seems OS/2 leaves some the devices in "abnormal" modes and Linux
can't recover from that.
Finally , One final note about the AHA-2940 SCSI controler.
I had 8 machines on which to install Linux. All of the machines had
AHA-2940.
But for some ODD reason, in one case, Linux Wouldn't see the SCSI controler.
After a long and tedious investigation I realised that one of the cards
was an AHA-2940S76 model. It seems that the aha-2940Sxx models are
OEM versions of the aha-2940. It seems that Linux does not like it !
It will have to be replaced.
Have a nice day
Jacques
