There are no plip interfaces registered.

In that case, it means that the PLIP driver couldn't find any ports to 
use. If you have the lp driver configured to grab all the ports, this 
problem will occur.

I believe this was done in about 1.3.26.

You can work around it by loading plip and lp as modules, and giving the 
"port=, irq=" options. Or you can edit lp.c to stop it grabbing all your 
ports.
