Hi,
On some of our systems the originator address of a mail message
is not correct. This causes lots of mail to bounce if people reply
to these messages.
This is the situation:
----------------------
We have a Linux server called mailgate which handles
mail for the domain cmg.nl and the local domain atf.cmg.nl.
There's another Linux server called netsrv which handles
the domain att.cmg.nl.
To allow everyone on the Internet to address our people using
@cmg.nl as domain, alias entries for each user have been made
on the mailgate, e.g.
Han.Weegink: hanw@att.cmg.nl
Now here's the problem:
-----------------------
If I send mail through netsrv to the Internet, the originator
address gets expanded from:
Han.Weegink@cmg.nl
to:
Han.Weegink@atf.cmg.nl (which does not exist)
in stead of:
Han.Weegink@att.cmg.nl or hanw@att.cmg.nl
This only happens if mail is sent from e.g. a PC and is
forwarded by netsrv to mailgate. If mail is sent directly
from netsrv (i.e. user is logged in on netsrv) the originator
is hanw@att.cmg.nl.
I have checked the configuration on the PCs, the reply to
address is Han.Weegink@cmg.nl. If I change that to
Han.Weegink@att.cmg.nl the problem is solved, but I'd
like people to send mail to Han.Weegink@cmg.nl.
Does anyone have a clue what is going wrong ?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Han Weegink
