BAGHDAD Officials say two explosions in the northern Iraqi city of
Mosul have killed two soldiers and wounded another seven people.A police
officer says five soldiers were among those wounded in a car bomb
Sunday in an industrial area of the city, 360 kilometers (225 miles)
northwest of Baghdad. He says two civilians also were wounded when another
bomb placed under a vehicle exploded.A health official confirmed the casualties. There
was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombings.Sunni militants
often attack soldiers, hoping to erode confidence in the Shiite-led government.

the new pope will keep his distance from the society, for fear
of giving an appearance of favoritism. Or, he could use his new
authority to become from their perspective
too involved in the society, like John Paul. And they wonder if

Jesuits with just over 3,900 members, followed by the U.S., with just
under 2,500. About one-third of the world's 17,287 Jesuits came from developing
countries, a figure that is expected to rise in coming years. For U.S.
Jesuits, this has meant a long season of wondering where they go
from here. The order is restructuring in the U.S., merging their 10
smaller provinces into four larger ones.Lay people now staff most Jesuit
schools and ministries, so the order has started Jesuit spirituality retreats
and instruction for lay faculty and staff to help maintain the religious
identity of what they've built. Among the newer J

in independent expenditures to help elect him. The money went to cover
gas, staff salaries and canvassing services. The group making the biggest
push on behalf of Lynch is the International Association of Firefighters,
which has reported spending more than $85,300, including money for gas,
tolls, rally signs, car rentals and travel expenses.Lynch worked as an ironworker
for 18 years and, along with Markey, has appealed to unions for
their support.None of the independent expenditures reported to the FEC by
the end of the week were made to either support or oppose
the three Republican U.S. Senate candidates -- former U.S. Attorney Michael
Sullivan, Norfolk state Rep. Daniel Winslow and Cohasset businessman Gabriel

money has been spent in support of Markey. The Tea Party-aligned Conservative
Campaign Committee, however, has said it plans to spend up to $200,000

Senate Republicans next week. He disputed the claim that the immigration
bill process has been more secretive than any other and said he's
worked to incorporate suggestions from all senators.Rubio has tried to act
as a bridge between the bipartisan "Gang of Eight" and other congressional
Republicans. His involvement is seen as key to bringing any immigration
package across the finish line.Rubio has recently voiced concern -- echoing
the complaints of his colleagues -- that the process was being rushed.Senate
Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., in response to those
concerns, said he would consider holding one hearing. The Senate Judiciary
Republicans who wrote the latest letter complained about this approach,
predicting Leahy would "likely proceed directly to a mark-up of a far-reaching
and complex immigration bill based on your group's proposals."The letter
was signed by top committee Republican Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Alabama Sen.
Jeff Sessions, Utah Sen. Mike Lee and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.Rubio released
a letter back that stressed his agreement on an open process."This proposal
will be a starting point," Rubio wrote. "As members of the committee
of jurisdiction I expect you to have ample opportunity to review, comment
and amend as you see fit ... You can expect that I
will continue to defend the rights of every senator, myself included, to
conduct this process in
