The mischaracterization of the alleged violence by Chancey Luna, Michael
Jones and James Edwards began when one of the trio claimed they
had hunted down and shot dead Australian Chris Lane because they were
bored. The statement is so devoid of humanity and so headline-ready that
the media seized upon it as a literal and complete explanation for
why these three accused killers acted so inhumanely. But the statement is
a smokescreen. Boredomof the kind sane people experiencehad nothing, whatsoever,
to do with Lanes death and explains nothing about how it happened. When
normal people are bored, they go to the movies, go shopping or
skateboarding or take a drive to the beach. Only when people are
severely psychologically disordered do they think up murder as an antidote
to boredom. Only when extraordinarily disordered patterns of thought, feeling
or perception fill ones mind does the vacuum of boredom draw someone
to the idea of using a gun to shoot a stranger in
the head. Chancey Luna, Michael Jones and James Edwards, if guilty, are
not normal. So we should not be surprised, nor take at face
value, the self-report that they killed out of boredom, because that excuse
emerges from a person who is psychologically shattered and unaware enough
to pump a bullet into another mans skull. So why would these three
allegedly do this if it had nothing to do with boredom? Probably
because Chris Lane, a strong man running the streets on a bright
day, was
WASHINGTON Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says the jury verdict
that freed the killer of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin was "questionable."
But he isn't sure it will have staying power in the public
consciousness.Speaking on CBS's Face the Nation, Powell said cases like
Martin's "blaze across the midnight sky" and are forgotten. The first black
chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and first black secretary of
state, Powell says America has come a long way toward racial equality
50 years after Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.
Powell recalled being refused service when trying to buy a hamburger before
the Civil Rights Act of 1964.Minorities have many more opportunities today,
but Powell says King would still demand work on education, housing and
economic opportunities.

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">WASHINGTON The Pentagon says U.S. Central Command and the Jordanian Armed
Forces are co-hosting Mideast defense chiefs in Jordan over the next few
days to discuss the region's security environment. The chairman of the Joint
Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin Dempsey, is attending. The meeting, planned
since June, comes as the U.S. and other nations ponder what action
to take, if any, in the wake of reports that the Syrian
government has used chemical weapons in its civil war. Although Syria denies
such claims, they are certain to be a leading topic for the
gathering.A Defense Department spokesman, George Little, says the exchange
is designed in part to increase the collective understanding of the impact
of regional conflicts on nations. The conference is set for Sunday to Tuesday.
Many Christian woman and children in Northern Sudan are separated from their
families and endure increased persecution from an increasing Mulslim populationThe
Barnabas FundAn international relief agency plans to airlift some 3,400
Christians out of Sudan, where they face increasing persecution from the
Islamist government. The Barnabas Fund has already whisked about 5,000 Christians
from the embattled country, where President Omar Hassan al-Bashir has vowed
to create a a 100 percent Islamic constitution, without communism or secularism
or Western [influences]. The Christians will be taken to South Sudan, a
smaller nation formed in 2011 where religious freedom is better tolerated. We
launched this as major global initiative, and have had such a tremendous
response from the Christian community, Julian Dobbs, a bishop and honorary
director for the Baranbas Fund, told FoxNews.com.The situation for Christians
who have remained behind has proven to create hardships for them, especially
for women and children."The Barnabas Fund's airlifting project began in
August 2012, but only recently has the organization secured funds for a
second phase.Sharia law is heavily enforced in Sudan, where nearly 98 percent
of the population is Muslim. It has made it very difficult, if not
impossible, for Christians to worship, Dobbs also said. There is also no
access for food and proper safety. Many families were also forcibly split
