The Linux Firewall-HOWTO is in the process of a new rewrite to
incorporate the next release of the SOCKs proxy server. As I am busy,
and the rewrite might not be done for a while, if you are installing a
new firewall, please download the SOCKs program from ftp.nec.com in the
path /pub/security/socks.cstc. It has a new configuration, better FTP
support, better documentation, and a host of new utilities.
For those that already have installed a firewall and do not want to
update it, the documentation and utilities will still work with your old
system.
The current version of the Firewall-HOWTO should still be relevant except
for the new configuration syntax.
