PHOENIX Authorities say several gunshots were fired Friday night outside
a Phoenix high school as a basketball game was going on inside,
but no one was hit.Police spokesman Steve Martos confirmed that there were
no injuries as a result of the gunfire, but he did not
release other details. The Arizona Republic reports that police said 15 shot
were fired near Cesar Chavez High School in southwest Phoenix. The paper
reports that hundreds of people had been attending the boys varsity game,
and students said the gym was evacuated.Lt. Tom Van Dorn says the
police gang squad was investigating, and officials are looking for three
people. He says that though no one was shot, paramedics evaluated three people
for other medical conditions. At least a dozen police cars remained parked
outside the high school with lights flashing later Friday night as a
police helicopter circled the area.

or even in future years."State Department of Water Resources Director Mark
Cowin said there simply is not enough water in the system to
meet the needs of farmers, cities and the conservation efforts that are
intended to save dwindling populations of salmon and other fish throughout
Northern California. For perspective, California would have to experience
heavy rain and snowfall every other day from now until May to
get the state back to its average annual precipitation totals, according
to the Department of Water Resources."These actions will protect us all
in the long run," Cowin said during a news conference that included
numerous state and federal officials, including those from wildlife and
agricultural agencies.Friday's announcement came after Gov. Jerry Brown's
official drought declaration in mid-January, a decision that cleared the
way for state and federal agencies to coordinate efforts to preserve water
and send it where it is needed most. The governor urged Californians
to reduce their water use by 20 percent. It also reflects the severity
of the dry conditions in the nation's most populous state. Officials say
2013 was the state's driest calendar year since records started being kept,
and this year is heading in the same direction.A snow survey on
Thursday in the Sierra Nevada, one of the state's key water sources,
found the water content in the meager snowpack is just 12 percent

based on his 15 years of research and $39 million spent on clinical studies.

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:Arial'>In a study, patients with high
blood pressure were able to increase their blood flow through their restricted
arteries</span>.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:Arial'>How did this happen?<o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:Arial'>Well, the patients
narrowed arteries were able to dilate much more easily. This means the blood
could flow freely through the arteries unrestricted.

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:Arial'>The result? Their hearts
no longer had to overwork to pump blood through their arteries. As a result,
the patients reduced their risk of potential problems.

Photo/Colorado Community Media, Hannah GarciaSafety concerns have put a
double-amputee high school basketball player's dreams on hold. The Colorado
High School Activities Association told Bailey Roby earlier this month he
could no longer play after game officials balked when they learned Roby
didn't have an official letter of authorization. At the heart of the issue
is a national high school rule that bans players with prosthetic devices
if they place opponents at a disadvantage or increase the risk of
injury to the athlete or others. His coach at Mountain Vista High
School says he understands the concerns.Roby tells The Denver Post the ruling
does not make sense because he has been playing school basketball for
several years, beginning with a junior varsity team.Roby, who stand 6-foot-5
on the prosthetic legs, was reportedly born without a fibula in both
legs and had them amputated before his first birthday. He never had
a problem with getting clearance to play until he reached the varsity
level, which includes faster and stronger opponents. The Associated Press
contributed to this report
An emaciated man whose boat washed up on the shores of the
Pacifics Marshall Islands is reportedly telling a harrowing tale of being
adrift for 16 months, surviving on fish, birds, and turtle blood. The manwho
only speaks Spanishsays he drifted more than 8,000 miles in his 24-foot
fiberglass boat, after leaving Mexico for El Salvador in September 2012,
the AFP reports. He had been traveling with a companion who he
says died at sea several months ago.Two locals discovered the man Thursday
when his boat with propeller-less engines floated onto the reef at Ebon
Atoll. He has long hair and a beard, and was wearing only
ragged underwear, the report said."His condition isn't good, but he's getting
better," Ola Fjeldstad, a Norwegian anthropology student told AFP by phone.
Fjeldstad is part of a group doing research on Ebon-- the southernmost
outpost of the Marshall Islands-- who was helping the man.Its been difficult
to get more details on the mans story because of a language
barrier, but he told the researchers his name is Jose Ivan. He
did say that he survived by eating birds and fish he caught
with his bare hands, and drinking turtle blood when there was no
rain.No fishing gear was found on the boat and Ivan suggested he
caught turtles and birds with his bare hands. There was a turtle
on the vessel when it landed at Ebon."The boat is really scratched
up and looks like it has been in the water for a
long time," Fjeldstad said. The locals wh
