MONROVIA, Liberia Liberian police say that at least three bodies have
been retrieved and more than 10 people are feared trapped under the
rubble of a building that was gutted by fire and came down
in the Waterside commercial district of Monrovia.Police Senior Inspector
Gregory Coleman told the Associated Press "half of the building collapsed"
over people who were helping to put out the fire, which started
Wednesday night. The United Nations radio station, UNMIL Radio, confirmed
two of the dead were from the Liberia Fire Service.Grief-stricken family
members have continued to pour into the area in search of missing
their relatives. Some eyewitnesses put the figure of those killed higher
and say those trapped are more than 20.Police are investigating the incident.
Voters are divided over how the White House is handling the September
11, 2012 attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya that killed
a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans. On President Obamas role, however,
voters are clear: he should have been more involved.A Fox News poll
asked voters about their reaction to former Defense Secretary Leon Panettas
testimony to Congress in February on the Benghazi attack. Panetta testified
that after the initial 5:00 PM briefing with the president, he didnt
hear from the President Obama or anyone at the White House again
that night. CLICK TO VIEW THE FOX NEWS POLLWhile almost a third
of voters (29 percent) think there was probably a good reason for
the president not to be personally involved, most voters -- 61 percent
-- say Obama should have been directly involved no matter what. Most Republicans
(82 percent) and over half of independents (57 percent) feel the president
should have been more engaged in responding to the assault. Among Democrats
views are split: 43 percent say Obama had a good reason not
to be involved, while 45 percent say theres no excuse. The new poll,
released Wednesday, also asked voters to react to former Secretary of State
Hillary Clintons testimony that she hadnt seen a cable from the consulate
asking for additional security and warning the administration about the
dangerous situation diplomats were facing. Some 39 percent of voters say
it is troubling Clinton didn

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">FILE - This March 8, 2013 photo provided by the French Army
Communications Audiovisual Office (ECPAD) shows French soldiers patrolling
the Mettatai region in northern Mali. The Security Council unanimously approved
a new U.N. peacekeeping force for Mali on Thursday, April 25, 2013
to help restore democracy and stabilize the northern half of the country
which was controlled by Islamist jihadists until a France-led military operation
ousted them three months ago. (AP Photo/ECPAD, Arnaud Roine)The Associated
PressPARIS France's defense minister is in Mali to prepare the post-war
period after most French soldiers leave, to be replaced by African troops
and U.N. peacekeepers.A Defense Ministry statement says Jean-Yves Le Drian
arrived in the Malian capital of Bamako on Thursday and plans visits
with political figures and French troops who intervened on Jan. 11 and
have knocked out fortified bases of radical jihadists in the north.About
200 tons of munitions and arms have been seized and "the capacities
of these groups have been considerably reduced," according to the statement.Le
Drian's visit comes as the U.N. Security Council approved a peacekeeping
force for Mali, which will hold presidential elections in July.At year's
end, 1,000 French troops will still be in Mali, compared to around
4,000 now.
The office in charge of implementing President Obamas health care law is
being spared from sequestration cuts and furloughs. Gary Cohen, director
of the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, said Wednesday
his office was not forced to cut worker hours due to the
across-the-board spending cuts that rolled out in March, The Hill reported.Republicans
have accused the Obama administration of cherry-picking projects and agencies
that would be slapped hardest by sequestration. Most recently, furloughing
FAA workers have caused massive delays at airports across the country.Rep.
Greg Harper, R-Miss., reportedly said the fact that ObamaCare officials
havent had their hours cuts highlights the political nature of the cuts."We're
talking about at least a 15 percent furlough of current air-traffic controllers,
resulting in delays and perhaps safety concerns, but yet this has been
a selective political item by the administration," Harper said.Cohen maintains
his office is still feeling the pinch because they are under a
hiring freeze but Harper said during an Energy and Commerce oversight subcommittee
hearing that he wasn't buying it.Click for more from The Hill.
