steel-hybrid roller coaster in the world."She goes
up like this. Then when it drops to come down, that's when
it (the safety bar) released and she just tumbled," said Carmen Brown
of Arlington. Brown said she was waiting in line to get on
the ride when the accident happened."They didn't secure her right. One of
the employees from the park -- one of the ladies -- she
asked her to click her more than once, and they were like,
`As long you heard it click, you're OK.' Everybody else is like,
`Click, click, click.' Hers only clicked once. Hers was the only one
that went down once, and she didn't feel safe, but they let
her still get on the ride," Brown told The Dallas Morning News.MyFoxDFW.com
reported that fire crews had to use a ladder truck to get
to the platform below the roller coaster where Esparza's body had fallen.Six
Flags expressed sadness over the death and said it was temporarily closing
the section of the park around the accident site. It didn't say
how long the area would be closed. A message left for Parker
by The Associated Press wasn't returned."We are deeply saddened to share
that earlier this evening an adult woman died in the park while
on the Texas Giant. Park medical staff and local paramedics responded immediately.
Since the safety of our guests and employees is our number one
priority, the ride has been closed pending further investigation. Our thoughts
and prayers are with the family and friends during this difficu
nstall steel-hybrid rails before reopening in 2011.Brown said she was next
in line behind the woman and saw her being strapped into her
seat next to her son."We heard her screaming. We were like, `Did
she just fall?"' Brown said.Arlington police Sgt. Christopher Cook, the
department spokesman, referred all questions to Parker. No other details
were available.In 1999, a 28-year-old Arkansas woman drowned and 10 other
passengers were injured when a raft-like boat on the Roaring Rapids ride
at Six Flags overturned in 2 to 3 feet of water about
200 feet from the end of the ride.Six Flags Over Texas opened
in 1961 as the first amusement park in the Six Flags system.

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">July 11, 2013: San Diego Mayor Bob Filner apologizes for his behavior
in this frame from a video produced by the city of San
Diego.APPressure continued to mount on San Diego mayor Bob Filner to resign
over the weekend, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office announced that it
was creating a special hotline to handle sexual harassment complaints against
the 70-year-old Democrat.UTSanDiego.com reported that the sheriff's office
announced Friday that it would be the lead investigative agency for any
complaints against Filner and any information gleaned via the hotline would
be turned over to the California Attorney General's office for possible
prosecution.Filner responded to the hotline's creation with a statement
saying "I very much welcome the fact that some of these allegations
will finally be addressed by an appropriate investigative authority rather
than by press conference and innuendo. As I have stated before, everyone
deserves due process and I am encouraged an effort to implement that
has begun."No formal complaints or lawsuits have been filed against Filner
and none of his alleged victims have come forward. Under California law,
victims of sexual assault may be given anonymity.Filner, the first Democrat
to be elected mayor of San Diego since 1992, has vowed not
to step aside since the allegations became public June 10. On that
date, a letter addressed to Filner from former San Diego Councilwoman and
Filner aide Donna Frye became p
ut the potential dangers of such mass events. But Brazilian police said
there'll be no checkpoints or bag inspections of the crowds at Copacabana,
similar to the security schemes at other events. That doesn't mean the Brazilians
won't be making a show of force. Some 10,000 police officers and more
than 14,000 soldiers will be on duty during the pope's visit, and
six Brazilian military aircraft will provide transportation for the pontiff.
The helicopters will let Francis avoid Rio's snarled traffic and the dangers
of land travel.Nearly 100 lookout towers will also allow police to monitor
an expected 1.5 million people turning out for yet another mass event,
the World Youth Day's closing Mass in the rural neighborhood of Guaratiba,
about 30 miles (50 kilometers) west of Copacabana on the far outskirts
of Rio.Federal, state and local governments are expected to spend a total
of around $52 million on all the security and logistical measures for
the papal visit.Even with such numbers, Francis' itinerary will at some
points push him out of the reach of all but his immediate
security detail, entrusting much of his protection to the crowd of faithful.
Experts have warned that a lone wolf-style assailant presents the gravest
security threat."Much of the pope's security will be provided by the Brazilian
people" themselves, said General Presidential Secretary Gilberto Carvalho.Biundini
said the high-profile visit will provide a tempting stage for demo
