DIOSS is the Distributed Interface Object Server System. It is about the
fastest
way to create X/Motif base applications. There is no need to know
about Widgets, Gadgets or XmStrings. Every object in DIOSS is very high level.
For example, all objects such as text fields, listboxes come with a label.
The label can be placed 12 different positions around the object.
Also, all interface objects are refered to by name, so there is no need
to carry around handles.
DIOSS is broken out into a server and client library. All windowing
specifics are contained in the server, so there is no need for
apps created with DIOSS to contain the massive overhead of
X/Motif. Also, expensive resources such as colormaps, pixmaps and
images are shared between apps.
Because DIOSS is broken out into a server, you also get built-in
networking. This allows Xterms to share a DIOSS server, and remote
programs to connect to a local DIOSS server to run over the Internet.
