TBLGNUTS General Information

WHAT THE HELL IS A TBLGNUT, ANYWAY?

Good question, Bob. In actuality, no one really knows what a TBLGNUT
is, although it sounded like a good name at the time. Essentially, it stands
for Tampa Bay Linux GNU Technical Society.

WHAT DOES A TBLGNUT DO, EXACTLY?

Another excellent question. For the most part, TBLGNUT members spend the
majority of their time piddling around with kernel makefiles and the like,
with the ocassional session of xpilot to break up the monogamy ... er, thats
monotony. In reality, we're just a bunch of Linux fanatics, who happen
to live in a cool place with lots of water (Tampa Bay, Florida, for you folks
out there who may not be as geographically inclined as we are). Our main
purpose in life is to spread the gospel of Linux, as per brother Linus himself.
Can I get an amen from the back row? Yaaaaess!

I WANT TO BE A TBLGNUT, TOO!

We all do, son, but it takes a certain breed! In actuality, we'd love to
have you join in the festivities. Whether your just getting into Linux
(which can be a bit difficult, since its an operating system, and not a car),
or you are an experience UNIX developer, TBLGNUTS has a seat for ya. During
our monthly meetings, we spend time with new Linux users, helping them to get
the most out of their new operating system. There are plenty of old timers
around to give you a hand with pretty much any problem you might be having.

In addition, programming members contribute software to the group, allowing
the group to not only particpate in knowledge lending, but to give something
else back to the effort.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

TBLGNUTS meets on the last Tuesday of each month. Currently, the Waldec
Group is hosting our meetings. Directions are readily available for all lost
souls at http://www.wta.com/tblgnuts.

COVER CHARGE AT THE DOOR!

"Big Earl" will be collecting the cover charge ... er, I mean donations
at the door before each meeting. Acutally, the group doesn't currently impose
membership dues. As long as this is unnecessary, this practice will be avoided.
Man - can't beat that.

GREAT FUN! GREAT TOPICS!

Hear from professional developers and system administrators who are using
Linux in production environments! Reap the benefit of a large knowledge
pool. Consider these topics which were discussed at our last meeting:

	- Derick Glidden gave a wonderful intro to Linux, for newcomers. In
addition, he also gave us a rousing rendition of "Diamonds and Rust"
	  by Joan Baez. Woo! Woo!

	- Brad Hull followed suit with an introduction to configuring and using
PPP under Linux to get connected to the Net. Afterwards, Brad
performed an ancient Polynesian table dance, just for TBLGNUTS
 	  members! What a deal!

	- Brooks Cutter followed Brad's tough act with a general overview of
configuring sendmail for Linux. After everyone's brain was fried
from sendmail rules, the Brookster stole the show with an amazing
triple twist from the top of the demonstration table. An
accomplished diver, folks, right here at TBLGNUTS!

	- Last but not least, I (yech) gave a preview and interactive walk
through of the upcoming re-release of the LIME BBS package for
Linux. After I waded through the onslaught of "ooohs" and "aaahs"
(hehehe) I proved to the masses that a mdoern laptop machine will
still be functional if dropped from a height of 26 feet.
