sign each child out and have their photo taken. The school has about
870 children enrolled. The academy is named after McNair, an astronaut who
died when the space shuttle Challenger exploded on Jan. 28, 1986, according
to the school's website.Jonessia White, the mother of a kindergartner, said
the school's doors are normally locked."I took (my son) to school this
morning and had to be buzzed in," she said. "So I'm wondering
how the guy got in the door."Jackie Zamora, 61, of Decatur, was
at the Wal-Mart waiting and said her 6-year-old grandson was inside the
school when the shooting was reported and she panicked for more than
an hour because she hadn't heard whether or not anyone had been
injured. She said the school has a set of double doors where visitors
must be buzzed in and show identification to a camera to be
allowed in."I don't know how this could happen at this school," Zamora
said. "There's so much security."School volunteer Debra Haynes said she
encountered the suspect without knowing it.She stopped by the office at
the end of her shift and saw a man talking to a
secretary but she did not see a gun."I heard him say, `I'm
not here to harm any staff or any parents or students. He
said he wanted to speak to a police officer.""By the time I
got to 2nd Avenue, I heard gunshots," she said. The Associated Press contributed

Aug. 19, 2013: A small crowd as it gathers near Berth 3
to watch the Celebrity Cruises' Millennium return to Ketchikan, Alaska.APCelebrity
Cruises announced Tuesday is was cancelling the remainder of a seven-night
cruise to Alaska after mechanical issues forced a ship carrying more than
3,100 passengers and crew members to return to port in Ketchikan. The cruise
line said in a statement that passengers would receive refunds of their
cruise fares and chartered air travel home. It also said it was
offering future cruise certificates for 100 percent of the fare paid for
this cruise.Cynthia Martinez, a spokeswoman for Royal Caribbean Cruises
Ltd., which owns Celebrity Cruises, said by email that about 2,200 guests
and nearly 960 crew members were onboard the Millennium. She said Celebrity
"will do whatever is necessary to get our guests back home, at
no additional cost to them."Martinez said the 965-foot ship experienced
a mechanical issue with one of its two propulsion motors. She said
it could sail at a reduced speed with one motor, but "in
an abundance of caution," the cruise line decided to cancel the sailing. The
ship had an issue with the same motor on a prior outing,
she said.Celebrity Cruises said the seven-night sailing began Friday, with
the ship leaving Vancouver, British Columbia. Ketchikan, in southeast Alaska,
was one of several ports of call scheduled before the cruise was
to end in Seward.Coast Guard spokesman Kip Wadlow said

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">BUENOS AIRES Whenever Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez uses Twitter,
controversy often follows. Although tweet discussions range in content and
frequency, there's never a lack of debate.Fernandez, who almost never gives
interviews or takes questions from reporters, often uses her official Twitter
account, https://twitter.com/CFKArgentina , which claims more than 2.2 million
followers, to have a direct connection to the people. There was that time
when she sent more than 60 tweets in a single day after
a wide protest by thousands of Argentines critical of her government. Or
the many times she has attacked her political opponents and media outlets,
accusing them of twisting the truth and defaming her. Then, there are lighter
Tweets: pictures with Pope Francis, a boxing champion, and her dogs. Or
her recounting of casual conversations with Argentines on the road, the
birth of her grandson, and even her musings over her favorite TV
show."I'm a fan of the series Games of Thrones. I love it,"
Fernandez tweeted on April 28."When the DirecTV people came to see me
to announce some investments I asked them if they could please get
me season three ... I'm sure that tomorrow someone from the opposition
will denounce me for asking and receiving gifts."In a major departure from
Fidel Castro's four-hour speeches, Twitter's 140 characters or less have
become a leading communication tool for presidents throughout Latin America. An
example of this
tory, about how her marriage fell apart
after 33 years and the "roller coaster" of opening her own business."I
told him, `OK, we all have situations in our lives," she said.
"It was going to be OK. If I could recover, he could,
too."Then Tuff said she asked the suspect to put his weapons down,
empty his pockets and backpack on the floor."I told the police he
was giving himself up. I just talked him through it," she said.A
woman answering the phone at a number listed for Hill in court
records said she was his mother but said it wasn't a good
time and rushed off the phone.Complicating the rescue, bomb-sniffing dogs
alerted officers to something in Hill's trunk and investigators believe
he may have been carrying explosives, Alexander said. Officials cut a hole
in a fence to make sure students running from the building could
get even farther away to a nearby street, he said.Police had strung
yellow tape up blocking intersections near the school while children waited
to be taken to Wal-Mart where hundreds of people were waiting. The
crowd waved from behind yellow police tape as buses packed with children
started arriving along the road in front of them at the store.
The smiling children waved back.Regional superintendent Rachel Zeigler used
a megaphone to say children were on the buses by grade level
and that each bus would also be carrying an administrator, a teacher
and a Georgia Bureau of Investigation officer. Relatives had to show ID,
