Aug 20, 2013: City Church of Tallahassee Pastor Dean Inserra stands outside
his church in Tallahassee, Fla.APNASHVILLE, Tenn. Worried they could be
sued by gay couples, some churches are changing their bylaws to reflect
their view that the Bible allows only marriage between one man and
one woman.Although there have been suits against wedding industry businesses
that refuse to serve gay couples, attorneys promoting the bylaw changes
say they don't know of any lawsuits against churches.Critics say the changes
are unnecessary, but some churches fear that it's only a matter of
time before one of them is sued."I thought marriage was always between
one man and one woman, but the Supreme Court in a 5-4
decision said no," said Gregory S. Erwin, an attorney for the Louisiana
Baptist Convention, an association of Southern Baptist churches and one
several groups advising churches to change their bylaws. "I think it's better
to be prepared because the law is changing. America is changing."In a
June decision, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a provision of the
federal Defense of Marriage Act that defined marriage as between a man
and a woman for purposes of federal law. A second decision was
more technical but essentially ushered in legal gay marriage in California.Kevin

GROVELAND, Calif. Firefighters braced for strong winds that could push
a raging wildfire further into the northwest edge of Yosemite National Park,
threatening thousands of rural homes. The massive blaze was also burning
Saturday in the vicinity of two groves of giant sequoias that are
unique the region, prompting park employees to take extra precautions of
clearing brush and setting sprinklers. The towering trees, which grow only
on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada and are among the
largest and oldest living things on earth, can resist fire. However, dry
conditions and heavy brush are forcing park officials to take extra precautions
in the Tuolumne and Merced groves. About three dozen of the trees
are affected."All of the plants and trees in Yosemite are important, but
the giant sequoias are incredibly important both for what they are and
as symbols of the National Park System," park spokesman Scott Gediman said
Saturday. The Rim Fire has burned 203 square miles an area
about the size of Chicago and was just 7
percent contained late Saturday night. It started in a remote canyon of
the Stanislaus National Forest Aug. 17 and grew rapidly under dry conditions. The
fire has grown so large and is burning dry timber and brush
with such ferocity that it has created its own weather pattern, making
it difficult to predict in which direction it will move. Steep, inaccessible
terrain was hampering firefighter's effort to surround it.With

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">Investigators in a small Florida town were working Sunday to determine what
led a 72-year-old former employee of a trucking company to go on
a shooting spree Saturday, attacking former co-workers and his ex-boss,
killing two and wounding two more before killing himself.Authorities say
Hubert Allen Jr. drove to several locations around Union County, including
the headquarters for Pritchett Trucking Inc. and shot the men Saturday.
Investigators believe Allen acted alone.According to a Union County Sheriff's
Office news release, Allen shot and killed former co-worker Rolando Gonzalez-Delgado,
28, around 9 a.m. Saturday, then went a short distance and fatally
shot his former employer, 80-year-old Marvin Pritchett.A few minutes later,
he pulled over where another former co-worker was driving a farm tractor,
exchanged words with him and then fired one shot from a shotgun,
authorities said. That victim, 66-year-old Lewis Mabrey Jr., was in good
condition as he was preparing to undergo surgery for a broken arm
and other injuries, according to officials. Not long after that, Allen went
to the company's headquarters in Lake Butler and shot 44-year-old David
Griffis in the stomach, the release said. Griffis was in critical condition.
Authorities said Allen then returned to his nearby home and killed himself. With
a population of about 2,000, Lake Butler is located about an hour's
drive southwest of Jacksonville.Investigators were working at the five s
n a local TV talent contest. The kids may
not have won the contest, but they won their mom and dad's
hearts (and fear notMike and Carol finally got the platter).FNNMarcia wanted
to dump dull Charley for a date with hunky Doug Simpson, and
used Gregs favorite excuse to ditch an unwanted date, something suddenly
came up. But the day before her date with big man on
campus Doug, Marcia got a football in the face, ruining her perfect
little nose. Superficial Simpson had no use for a girl with a
swollen schnoz and dumped her. Marcia goes out with sweet Charley, and
realized that looks dont matter its the person inside that counts (yeah,
right).APCindy, not usually the brightest bulb in the Brady chandelier,
inexplicably earned a spot on a local quiz show. Naturally, the youngest
one in curls became very full of herself, to the annoyance of
her siblings. Cindy got her comeuppance when she froze on camera and
couldnt answer any of the shows questions.FNNAfter hearing Greg perform
in a studio with his siblings, a slick talent scout and his
foxy assistant tried to get the eldest Brady sign a record contractwithout
his brothers and sisters. Gregs proto-fame went to his head and he
announced to his family that he was going to forgo college for
rock stardom as Johnny Bravo. Unfortunately, Greg learned that they only
wanted to sign him because he fit the suit, not because of
his musical talents. Ever the Brady, Greg walked away from the lucrative
