                                BeeperWare 1.3
Enable your applications to work directly with your Alpha-Numeric pagers!
BeeperWare follows the TAP protocol (the industry standard), and will work
with any pager provider who also follows this protocol. It will also allow you
to receive mail messages on your pager, using the bpmail daemon included.
Internet providers!! Start your own paging service using our software!

The BeeperWare product has the following capabilities:

Send messages via standard input or a named file
Send to users via names in a user configuration file
Send to a group of users or all users
Send to any tty listed in the devices configuration file
  Works with Unix mail
Cancel individual requests or group requests
Queue multiple messages to multiple users and/or modems with different
	  phone numbers
Log messages with time queued, sender, receiver, etc
Messages are spooled so the terminal is not tied up
Uses familiar "lp" style commands - bp, bpsched, bpstat, etc
Easy integration into existing or new applications
SCO unix custom installable and removable
Configuration files can be saved if the software is reinstalled

The following options are configurable via configuration file:

Lifetime in minutes of message before being cancelled as unable to send
Size of message as determined by your pager provider
	Modem speed
Parity of modem - must match remote terminal
	Debug level
	Path/filename of scheduler log file
Root directory where bp spooler programs are located
Strings to search for in the Unix mail file subject line
Time in minutes between searches for unsent messages, both in the
	  spooler and in mail files
Flag to send the "from" field in the e-mail message
E-mail to sender with status of message (sent, not sent, etc)

The following utilities are included with BeeperWare:

bpadmin -- add, change, remove and make default users, groups, devices
bpclr -- clears all current requests, resets file permissions
bpcancel -- cancel named request(s) and group requests
bplog -- list contents of log files to standard output
bpd -- creates messages from e-mail, restarts bpsched
bplist -- list defined users, groups, devices
bpstat -- list default user and modem; list outstanding requests

Also included is the BeeperWare bpadminsh, which allows the above utilities to
be ran from a windowed menu system, based on the dialog programs.

The base source tree for dialog is provided, and is located in /usr/local/src
as a tarred and gzipped file. See the README file in that directory for
information about the GPL and distribution of dialog.

BeeperWare has currently been ported to SCO and Linux. If you have an interest
in seeing this ported to any other platform, please contact us about this. It
is possible we are already working on it!
