NNFS (Non-Networked File system) ALPHA 11

The goal
========
NNFS provide a consistent file system over several UNIX non networked computers
(or slow networked).
The NNFS advantages
===================
o You are sure to work on the latest version of files.
o You don't need to remember which files are modified on an host and must be
transfered on others.
o You don't need to made backup, because if a computer crash the file system is
still on the other computers working with NNFS.
o The NNFS medium is choose by a user shell script, it could be: floppy disk,
serial connection, ...
o Minimal NNFS medium bandwidth to make the updates.
o EASY TO USE: Running ``nnfs'' command before and after working.
o The program has been hugely tested in ``good cases''. from the ALPHA 0
release it never made a dangerous mistake.
What could be done with NNFS
============================
o Have the same files at home and at work using only a floppy disk.
o Symmetric mirroring on 2 hosts or more (but you must not modify the same file
between updates on more than one computer)
The NNFS disadvantages
======================
o It could exist another program doing the same thing than NNFS and working
best, but I don't know it.
o It presently works only on UNIX.
o You need a compatible archive (``cpio'') program on both machines.
o You need a C ANSI compiler and a Bourne Compatible shell.
The NNFS program works perfectly for me and few friends. In the good case (no
full disk, error of use, power fail) NNFS had been running thousands of time
without error.
I will improve NNFS if many people use it. So, I expect feedback from NNFS
users.
Retrieve NNFS!!!
================
The ALPHA releases are only retrievable with a WWW client (as 'xmosaic',
'arena', 'harmony', ...).
The future (September 1995 I hope) release 1.0 will be on an FTP server.

HP/HP-UX, Linux, IBM/RISC6000/AIX, SUN/SPARC2/SUNOS, SILICON/*/IRIX
