This is an announce for the 4th official version of MD, a device
driver that groups several hard disks or partitions into a single block
device, so it is now possible to have files that grow across devices. It
currently supports a linear mode as well as RAID-0 (striping). Please note
that linear and RAID-0 mode have now moved to BETA, but RAID-1 is still VERY
ALPHA.
What's new since 0.19 :
Some fixes here and there. Preliminary support for RAID-1 is now
included (not complete yet, since it's still lacking of rebuild tools and
error recovery). Some changes in ide and SCSI drivers to make RAID-1
work... Modularized personalities. Some more speed improvement (using early
requests removal, like in ide.c). Corrected the bug that prevented from
compiling the kernel with module versions enabled (thanks to
pstrode@exec.com for reporting). Updated md tools (use literal chunk size
instead of chunk factor).
