following in the body of the message:

RED HAT COMMERCIAL LINUX VIA FTP
Red Hat Commercial Linux can be downloaded and installed, in its
entirety, from a number of FTP sites. To do so requires that you have
an existing Linux installation and a free ext2fs partition to store
the packages. Installation then proceeds as with a CD-ROM based
installation, using the partition instead of a CD-ROM.
The following FTP sites will have Red Hat Commercial Linux available:
ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/
ftp://linux.agis.net/
ftp://ftp.caldera.com/
We encourage FTP archive maintainers to contact the sites listed to
arrange mirrors!

Red Hat Commercial Linux is currently available on CD-ROM from your
favorite CD Rom vendor and the ACC Bookstore, as well as Advantage

RED HAT COMMERCIAL LINUX
MOTHER'S DAY RELEASE
May 30, 1995
Durham, NC -- Red Hat Inc. is pleased to announce the second release
of the Red Hat Commercial Linux OS on CD-ROM. The "Mother's Day
Release" contains over 165 new and revised packages, incorporating
many important bugs fixes and security enhancements, as well as
completely new packages. In addition, the installation process has
been made even easier with a new "Express Install" feature allowing
near-unattended installations.
Built from scratch, RHC Linux represents a quantum leap in Linux
usability. RHC Linux is possibly the easiest Linux distribution to
install and maintain, and as such, it is perfectly suited to the
growing numbers of users moving from MS-DOS to Linux. While RHC Linux
is the perfect beginner's Linux, experienced users will find it to be
a very powerful development platform. Complete development
tools,TeX/LaTeX suite, X Window System, and scientific computation
libraries are included -- and everything comes with sources.
* Installation
Installation is mediated through dialog boxes which walk you through
the installation process. Installation is supported directly from the
CD-ROM or over NFS. You can choose which series of packages to
install, and install (or uninstall) individual packages after the
initial installation with our graphical Linux Installation Manager.
As the installation progresses you are presented with a progress
meter, which estimates the time to completion (anywhere from 10
minutes to one hour, depending on your configuration). X Window
System configuration is automatic, requiring only the selection of the
proper XFree86 server, and the desired video modes.
* Package System
The Red Hat Program Package (RPP) system is the foundation of Red Hat
Commercial Linux. Our fully "packagized" system means that your
installed system consists of a few hundred discrete packages
(RPPs).The RPP tools allow you to install and uninstall these packages
cleanly and easily. The RPP system allows you to track and query your
installed packages for information such as creation and install dates,
package size, file list, description, etc. In addition, a package
verification allows you to check the integrity of (and make
corrections to) your installed packages. The verification procedure
checks that all files are where they should be, that they have the
right owner, group and permissions, etc. Any owner, group or
permission anomalies can be corrected automatically.
* Installation Management
With the graphical Linux Installation Manager you can track every
package installed on your system, and all packages available on the
CD-ROM. You can examine package descriptions and file contents before
you install them. With a few mouse button clicks you can
install,uninstall, list and verify all installed packages. No other
installation system comes close.
* Development Tools
A complete set of C/C++ development tools is provided, as are a number
of other programming language compilers and interpreters, including
Common Lisp, Prolog, Scheme, Fortran, and Tcl/Tk. Full sources for
everything on the CD-ROM are included in package format, in the
configuration used to build the system.
* Documentation
Complete man pages, info pages, and HOWTOs and FAQs are provided, and
are searchable with a powerful integrated help tool. A postscript
version of the Red Hat User's Guide is included, which covers all
aspects of installation, all the system administration and RPP
management tools, RPP building, and an overview of the various systems
and layout of RHC Linux. The User's Guide is also available in
printed form
