ANNOUNCEMENT http://www.yggdrasil.com
Yggdrasil Computing is now shipping "Linux Internet Archives", a
new four CDROM set aimed at a different market than our main Linux
distribution, Plug-and-Play Linux. It is also a useful accessory for
existing Plug-and-Play Linux systems.
Linux Internet Archives is for Linux users who simply want the
latest snapshots of the Linux FTP archive sites from the internet. It
does not have a live filesystem. It is not "Plug and Play." Instead,
Linux Internet Archives provides more content than any other Linux FTP
dump, and at a lower cost: $19.95.
UNIQUE FEATURES
Linux Internet Archives has the following features not
currently found in other Linux CDROM sets:
o Boot floppies with fixed version of fdisk for Slackware
2.2.0.1 (in addition to the original boot floppies).
o Complete internet RFC standards, often sold
as a separate CD by others.
o All of the free X11R6 software on ftp.x.org, including
the MIT X11R6 distribution, the "contrib" tapes,
and the newer contributed software not on contrib
tapes. This is also often sold as a separate CD by others.
o Snapshot of DEC Alpha Linux port (not a runnable system).
o For convenience, the artwork on each CD clearly indicates
each CD's contents (for example, "sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux").
CONTENTS OF THE CDROM SET
The four CDROM's in the set consist of the following:
Disc 1 Slackware 2.2.0.1* **, Debian .93 beta, MCC 1.0+,
mini-linux, Jurix, Xdenu 2.0 and SLS.
Disc 2 sunsite.unc.edu:pub/Linux*
Disc 3 tsx-11.mit.edu:pub/linux*, DEC Alpha Linux port,
Internet RFC standards.
Disc 4 ftp.x.org X11R6 archive*, prep.ai.mit.edu:pub/gnu,
JE Linux (Japanese Extensions), Linux X software
* Denotes sections from which proprietary software was found and
removed. This CDROM contains only the free portions of
these packages.
** Slackware is a registered trademark of Patrick Volkerding.
Complete listings of the files in all four CD's and a listing
of the removed proprietary files are FTPable from
ftp.yggdrasil.com:pub/products/linux-arc/May95/.
