<!--At GamesRadar+?s E3 showcase, the Future Games Show, indie publisher =
United Label unveiled new details regarding its upcoming, souls-like, boss-=
rush game: Eldest Souls.=20
Developed by Fallen Flag Studios, Eldest Souls is a challenging, 2D title t=
hat focuses on hard-hitting, fast-paced combat. Narratively, Eldest Souls t=
ells the tale of the Old Gods who unleash devastation upon humankind; the O=
ld Gods who must be slain by your weapon-toting hand. Eldest Souls' website=
reveals the details:
The Old Gods have long been imprisoned. Humanity has prospered. Great Kingd=
oms have arisen from the now forsaken temples of worship. But no longer?
In their final act of vengeance, the Old Gods have unleashed a great Desola=
tion upon the world. Farmlands have turned to deserts, rivers to dust. The =
Great Crusade sent to slay the imprisoned Gods once and for all, has all bu=
t perished, and the human Kingdoms are in disarray. A lone Crusader approac=
hes the Citadel, ancient prison of the Gods. His objective is simple: slay =
them all. Eldest Souls
As a boss-rush game, Eldest Souls ditches minion battles. Instead, you only=
battle the Old Gods, and claim powerful rewards for your victories. The re=
wards come in the form of new powers and abilities that can be combined int=
o numerous character builds. Eldest Souls' customization depths are still u=
nknown, however. Between god battles, you'll explore the mysterious Citadel=
to uncover the truth behind the Old Gods and their imprisonment. ADVERTISE=

THE BOTTOM LINE
Death Stranding is what happens when you give developer Hideo Kojima free r=
eign to do whatever he wants. Bizarre and not always user friendly, the ste=
alth-action game provides a unique experience that's laced with social comm=
entary. MSRP $59.99

A vast and engaging open world, with many hidden secrets
Highly detailed, polished graphics
High frame rates
New photo mode
CONS
Narrative drags in the beginning
Cumbersome menu system
Unique, asynchronous multiplayer option opens the door to annoying trolling
Last year, Kojima Productions' Death Stranding baffled PlayStation 4 owners=
who weren't quite prepared for a plot involving extinction, isolation, mor=
tality, and humanity?s remnants trying to piece together a broken world. Th=
e controversial console game is now a PC game that sports enhanced graphics=
, platform-specific Half-Life themed missions, and a photo mode. Taking gam=
eplay cues from the action, stealth, and survival genres, Death Stranding i=
s a more daring affair than the typical big-budget, mainstream video game t=
itle; after all, not many games feature a delivery person who fights flying=
whales one minute, and then discusses the afterlife with Guillermo del Tor=
o the next. Though unique, Death Stranding is not an experience for everyon=
e, since it doesn't offer immediate satisfaction. It's an odd, slow burn. S=
tranded
Death Stranding takes place in a bleak, post-apocalyptic United States that=
is all but bereft of life. The few survivors scattered throughout the land=
dwell in underground bunkers and hide from supernatural beings named BTs (=
Beached Things) that stalk the land. Toss in an inhospitable broken landsca=
pe and "Timefall" rain that ages everything it touches, and Death Stranding=
presents a truly uninviting environment. This is the world that you, as Sa=
m Porter Bridges (played by The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus), must travers=
e in order to reconnect the remaining pockets of humanity. ADVERTISEMENT
On its surface, Death Stranding's story isn't particularly special. After a=
ll, there are numerous games set in wrecked worlds. Death Stranding's centr=
al theme, however, makes this title relevant.=20
We live in a world where genuine human interaction is hard to come by, as m=
any people communicate via their computers and smartphones. We're simultane=
ously more connected and disconnected than at any other time in human histo=
ry. Death Stranding takes this idea quite literally, as Sam Porter?s primar=
y job is finding the scattered human settlements and connecting them to the=
Chiral Network, the game's version of the internet, to make the United Sta=
tes whole again. The theme isn't always delivered elegantly thanks to somew=
hat clumsy dialogue and exposition, a Hideo Kojima staple, but it's poignan=
t, regardless. SIMILAR PRODUCTS

Seasoned Traveler
It's cynical to say Death Stranding is a 70-hour long fetch quest, but the =
description isn't entirely inaccurate. What would be side missions in other=
games is the main course here. That may sound tedious but it actually work=
s quite well. Outside of cut scenes and some obligatory boss battles, you'l=
l spend most of your time delivering packages to outposts and settlements. =
The packages include medicine, scanners, tools, and even old-world items li=
ke vintage wine or gaming consoles. Some of these items may not sound signi=
ficant, but they're important to the recipients. After all, sitting down to=
a tall glass of wine while listening to a vinyl record makes the post-apoc=
alypse a little more bearable. ADVERTISEMENT
With the world so broken and twisted, getting from place to place is no sim=
ple task. You'll need to study the environment and frequently use the in-ga=
me map to discover the best route to take. Factor in the need to avoid enem=
ies, both of the human and BT varieties, and you'll have plenty to distract=
you from the fact you're a courier. Planning routes and analyzing enemy pa=
trols is effectively the same here as it is in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phan=
tom Pain. If you?re familiar with how that title plays, you?ll have a signi=
ficant advantage. Death Stranding makes item management and weight distribu=
tion key gameplay mechanics. This manifests in numerous ways. For example, =
if Sam carries too many packages, he'll walk at a plodding pace. In fact, c=
limbing even a slightly sloped hill becomes a Sisyphean effort. Additionall=
y, cargo adheres to the laws of physics and throws you off balance when you=
walk over uneven terrain. While you have free reign to manually stack item=
s on your person via the in-game menu, it is more efficient to use the auto=
-arrange feature that stacks cargo in the most optimal, balanced way possib=
le. This option is a godsend, since it speeds up what could otherwise be a =
highly tedious affair. Though you?ll spend a great deal of time arranging y=
our cargo, doing so is surprisingly satisfying. The game gives you the free=
dom to stack things as you wish without tossing you into micromanagement pu=
rgatory. Plus, it?s fun seeing how high you can stack things on Sam?s back.=
Death Stranding's Combat
There is no shortage of steep vertical cliffs, wide gorges, and raging rive=
rs along your path. Deciphering the best method to get around a looming mou=
ntain or gargantuan chasm feels rewarding; it's like completing a puzzle. S=
am can climb and jump over many obstacles, but only to a limited extent. Sp=
ecialized equipment, such as ladders, climbing anchors, bridges, and zip-li=
nes, makes it possible to traverse most natural barriers. You?ll craft thes=
e items at any outpost or settlement or randomly find them out in the field=
Ladders help surmount high peaks or cross gaping fissures. Climbing ancho=
rs come in handy when you need to descend to a lower area. Zip-lines allow =
you to cover large distances in seconds. Bridges let you traverse gaps and =
rivers. These items remain where you left them, making future trips through=
areas much easier. That's a nice touch.--->=20

2000s-era mascot games, yet its RPG progression, open-world design, and loo=

<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;">Don't let its cute visuals and talk=

the character customization, loadouts, and crafting, there are many interco=

you'll find useful tips and tricks to help you survive Biomutant's hazard-f=
illed world.</span></p>=20
</div>=20
<div class=3D"source">
<span style=3D"color: #ffffff;"> </span>
</div>=20
<div class=3D"source">
<span style=3D"color: #ffffff;"> You must create your furry, in-g=
ame character before diving into the core game. The options include your ch=
aracter's breed, genetic code, and resistances, as well as aesthetics like =
fur color and styles. Altering your genetic code raises or lowers your base=
stats (Vitality, Strength, Resistance). The six breeds offer pre-defined s=
tats and visual styles, while the five classes give your mutant specific ga=
meplay perks.</span>
</div>=20
<div class=3D"source">
<span style=3D"color: #ffffff;"> </span>
</div>=20
<div class=3D"source">=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;">Don't worry about building the perf=
ect character from the outset, because you'll gain stat-boosting experience=
points as your progress through the game. Even your initial appearance doe=
sn't matter much, since you'll get the chance to alter it later in the game=
Biomutant is all about player choice, meaning you're not locked into spec=
ific character builds. It's good to have an idea of the type of character y=
ou want, but remember that you can switch things up at any time.</span></p>=
=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;">That said, you should focus on your=
mutant's character class. The Commando class focuses on ranged, gun-focuse=
d combat; Sentinel is all about getting up close and personal with melee at=
tacks; Saboteur focuses on stealth, evasion, and critical hits; Psi-Freak g=
ives you psionic powers; and Dead-Eye is a well-rounded, balanced class.</s=
pan></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;">We suggest going with Saboteur, as =
its Critical Hit perk adds additional damage to both melee and long-ranged =
attacks. Its extra agility also makes it harder for enemies to land hits. Y=
ou're still free to distribute skill points to whichever attributes you des=
ire as you progress, but the boosted Critical Hit chance and agility gives =
you a leg up, especially during tough boss battles.</span></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;"> </span></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;">Biomutant's post-apocalyptic world =
contains a treasure trove of loot. You'll find most loot (armor, weapons, h=
ealth items, etc.) in the wild, but you can also purchase items from vendor=
s. Given the abundance of loot, vendors are almost irrelevant. You'll almos=
t always find better items on your own than from a store. However, vendors =
are good for purchasing crafting material.</span></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;"> </span></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;">Crafting is a straightforward proce=
ss. For example, you can swap out a rifle's barrel, ammo clip, scope, and g=
rip with better variants. So long as you have the required crafting materia=
ls to create items, you're good to go. Dismantling unwanted equipment is a =
great way to obtain crafting material, too.</span></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;">Later in the game, you discover ben=
ches that let you upgrade your gear. This is especially useful if you've gr=
own fond of specific weapons or armor sets. After all, do you want to roam =
the world in ugly gear simply because it has the best stats? Crafting and u=
pgrade benches offer build flexibility, so make use of both as often as pos=
sible.</span></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;"> </span></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;">You'll battle mutants and monsters =
with the game's many melee and long-range weapons. No matter your preferred=
tools of destruction, follow these basics to stay in the fight longer.</sp=
an></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;">For starters, it's wise to combine =
long-range and close-range attacks. Firing off a few rounds to stun an enem=
y, and quickly following up with a sword slice or gauntlet attack makes for=
a devastating combo. You want to remain mobile, as enemies will quickly ov=
erwhelm you with their superior numbers. Strafing works wonders, as does do=
dging. Countering not only blunts attacks, but often leaves enemies open to=
devastating combos.</span></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;"> </span></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;">Biomutant lacks a lock-on feature. =
As a result, you'll want to keep a close eye on where your gun's reticle re=
sts, particularly if you want to focus attacks on a single foe. If you need=
to dodge or counter, you'll lose sight of a target completely. So, it's be=
st to focus on one enemy for as long as possible before you're forced to di=
sengage. Later on, you'll gain access to area-of-effect attacks and abiliti=
es that mitigate the initial battle awkwardness.</span></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;">In addition, j<a style=3D"color: #f=
fffff;" href=3D"http://www.stayingpositiveten.club/improvises-violation/2a66Q2MB395JqL8610r431dJ7f5F40Phbr47Ga-Drrs4rGIEHbwG4wwfGaDvsrEibxEIH47DQsomen5Y1Jy06G1lsLv">umping and shooting during combat briefly slows=
time. This gives you an opportunity to line up shots and consider the comb=
os you'll</a> want to use before landing. The game doesn't tell you this, b=
ut it's a powerful mechanic that you should always utilize. Enemies don't p=
lay fair and neither should you.</span></p>=20
<p><span style=3D"color: #ffffff;"> </span></p>=20
