online with the gang. Super Rush is an excellent golf game, but the fact t=
hat only one of the advertised modes can be played with three-to-four playe=
rs simultaneously on a single console is a little bit disappointing. Still,=
this manages to be the best Mario sports title on Nintendo Switch, and a g=
reat multiplayer gem for low-energy gatherings with pals.MarioMario Golf: S=
uper Rush is a brilliant revival of one of Nintendo?s oldest spinoffs, and =
it?s unquestionably the best Mario sports title since the days of the GameC=
ube and Game Boy Advance. Camelot, the studio responsible for both the best=
and the worst Mario Golf games, has cobbled together something new, taking=
the series? best bits and binding them with one of the strangest and most =
significant tweaks to a major sports game since the ?action sports? era of =
NFL Blitz. But before I get to that, I have to answer the one big question =
for longtime fans of the series: Yes, there?s a story mode in Mario Golf: S=
uper Rush, and yes, it?s quite compelling. You play as a Mii of your own de=
sign and visit a variety of colorful locales, each with its own 18-hole gol=
f course, tournament, climate, shop, and talkative townspeople. Every chall=
enge, small and large, rewards experience points, which can be spent to imp=
rove the power of your swing, the control of your shots, and a handful of o=
ther variables. You?ll rapidly collect clubs with quirky benefits and gradu=
ally improve from rookie to something else. I?d hate to spoil the deeply we=
ird turns this story takes, so I?ll just say there are boss fights and a su=

nd then tasked with sinking a ball into each hole within a certain number o=
f shots. It can be tough, but the biggest problem with it is elevation. Get=
ting your ball up a cliffside often requires a tornado to whisk it - and yo=
ur character - into the air, so lining up that shot can be a frustrating ex=
perience. These twisters are lined up along the sides of cliffs to make it =
simple to get your ball onto high elevations, but unfortunately it can be a=
bit more finicky than that. Getting that ideal shot drastically slows down=
the speed of the game, and just makes it feel tedious instead of fun.</spa=

efore learning new ones. The best part is that the Adventure Mode never fee=
ls laden with tutorials, even though it absolutely is. Luckily they're tuck=
ed into the main game just neatly enough to never feel bothersome.</span></=
