Willows would like to announce the availability of an OPEN
BETA for our new product, TWIN XPDK.
Willows Software, Inc. provides a set of products and
services that allow applications based on the Windows(tm) API
to be developed and/or deployed cross platform (i.e. UNIX,
MAC and OS/2).
In addition, Willows is working with industry leaders (SUN,
HP, IBM, Novell and DISA) to establish an open standard
based on the Windows(tm) API. This initiative is sponsored
under Technical Committee 37 of ECMA. The current draft of
the specification may be found on our WEB server
(www.willows.com) in either HTML format, or downloadable as
an RTF file (approx. 2.5 MB in size).
The Willows Cross-Platform Windows Library (TWIN(tm) XPDK) is a
Windows(tm) implementation that allows windows application
developers to migrate their applications to multiple
platforms, including UNIX and Macintosh, using a single
source base, which preserves native platform performance.
The Willows Cross-Platform Windows Library provides a
platform-independent interface layer between Windows
compatible applications and the underlying target
environment. From the application perspective, this
interface layer functionally appears to be a Windows
environment with all the features and functions that the
application expects. The developers are saved from having to
master new environments when moving their application to a
new platform, significantly reducing time to market.
The Willows Cross-Platform Windows Library is a natural
extension of the use of the Windows API on Windows NT as a
growth path from the traditional PC platform. It is the
recognition of this de facto standard that is driving the
international development community to standardize the
Windows API in what has become the APIW Standard.
A more in-depth TWIN XPDK Overview is available at
