LDBF(Light DataBase Filer) - The client/server dbf compatible dbms
LDBF (Light DataBase Filer) is client/server dbms that operates with dbf files.
LDBF is completely compatible with FOXPRO's data and index formats.
Communication between server and clients are made using TCP/IP proctocol.
LDBF uses client/server architecture that means client makes request to
server for some manipulation with database, server performs it and
returns result to client.Clients uses standard suit of xBase operations
that manipulates with DBF databases.But in case of LDBF, resulting record
are sent over network only not all databases as in case of local network
with Foxpro.It guarantees consistancy of databases and more performance.

- uses S-Lang language by John E. Davis for stored procedures
- automatic completes at startup all incomplete transactions
- very fast and flexible
- includes CGI gateway between ldbf server and World Wide Web !!!!!!!!!
- window management library included, that contains all general
CUI controls for text modes and terminals.
Its features: editline,checkboxes,radiobuttons,listboxes,menubars.
Library implements event driven control.It under development and
undocumented.
Availability

In december 1995 or january 1996 Nadezhda company will issue first
commercial version of LDBF server.Full technical support will be maintained.
Versions for BSD/OS,Interactive Unix,SCO Unix,UnixWare will be available too.
Client's DLL that implements LDBF API for Windows also will be available.
Free version of LDBF can be found on ftp site ftp.kiae.su in
directory /linux/misc (ldbf-0.9.x.tar.gz)
New upgrades and bug fixed versions you may find in this directory.
Server is available in binary only.
