-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

This is to announce a new version of taper. Taper is a user friendly
backup program for Linux, especially designed for SCSI and floppy driver
tape drives. It handles incremental backups, multiple tape backups, most
recent restore, compression and a host of others.

The new features for 5.1 are:

* You now need ncurses v1.9.6 with the forms library

*  File sets now supported

*  New options --exclude-files - excludes a particular class
   of files from the backup (eg. .o files)

* New option --exclude-compress stops compression on certain
   types of files (eg. .gz, .Z .gif)

*  Man page

* Able to give volume and archive title just prior to backup
   rather than having to specify on command line

* The usual bug fixes & minor changes (see CHANGES file for details)

The LSM entry is:

Title:		Taper
Version:  	5.1
Entered-date:	301095   (DDMMYY)
Description:	This is a tape backup and restore program that provides
		a friendly user interface to allow backing/restoring
		files to a tape drive. Alternatively, files can be backed
		up to archive files. Selecting files for backup and restore
	 	is very similar to the Mouseless Commander interface and
		allows easy traversal of directories. Recursively selected
		directories are supported. Incremental backup and automatic
		most recent restore are defaults settings. Both SCSI and
		floppy tape drives are supported. Information about archives
		is stored on the hard disk allowing information about
		archives to be obtained without having to have the tape
		in the drive.
