I am happy to announce the release of e2fsprogs 0.5c, the ext2fs
filesystem utility package.
This release has an many bugfixes to e2fsck; it will correct several
types of disk corruptions which the 0.5b e2fsck was not able to handle.
This release is also much more portable to a large number of platforms,
as it is built using GNU configure. This is important both because
Linux is being ported to more and more non-i386 platforms, and because
people are working on porting the ext2 filesystem to non-Linux operating
systems.
Finally, 0.5c e2fsprogs has support for ELF shared libraries as well as
DLL shared libraries. Binary releasees of 0.5c e2fsprogs are available
for both DLL and ELF systems.
Everyone who is currently using 0.5b and older versions of e2fsprogs are
encouraged to upgrade to 0.5c; in order to fetch e2fsprogs, ftp to
tsx-11.mit.edu and cd to /pub/linux/packages/ext2fs. There you fill
find the following files:

e2fsprogs-0.5c.tar.gz is the source distribution;
e2fsprogs-0.5c-elfbin.tar.gz and e2fsprogs-0.5c-dllbin.tar.gz are the
ELF and DLL binary distributions, respectively.
