Hello, everyone.
As part of the fight agains forgeries and spam, I will start digitally
signing approved articles for comp.os.linux.announce using PGP. This is the
first such article. My public key has been registered on a key server
at MIT (I think it should be copied from there to other key servers). It will
also be posted every now and then to this group, and is included below.
For more information about PGP, see the documentation, or alt.security.pgp.
PGP is available on many ftp sites, but because of the US export restrictions
(they seem to think cryptographic software is a weapon), you should not ftp it
from the US if you're outside it.
I don't know which Linux distributions come with PGP, but Debian, which I use, does.
My public key:

Note that not all valid articles for comp.os.linux.announce will be signed. A few
other people also post (with my permission) directly to the newsgroup, and since the
articles don't go through me, they won't be signed by me. I'll be doing something
about this.
When I do sign an article, I need access to my own computer, at home. This means that
I won't be able to sign articles while at work (I'd have to store my secret key on
a computer I don't trust, which is not acceptable). This shouldn't affect moderation
speed much, however.
Oh, and since I'm a novice at this, if I do something wrong with PGP, don't hesitate
to tell me.
