KHARTOUM, Sudan A Sudanese official says the government has lifted a
ban on an opposition newspaper, a week after Khartoum announced that it
would hold a national dialogue to address freedom of expression.Secretary
of the National Council for Press and Publications Obeid Murawah told the
Sudanese state news agency Saturday that all restrictions on "The People's
Opinion" daily had been lifted and that the paper could resume printing
after completing the appropriate procedures. The paper is a mouthpiece for
the Popular Congress Party, led by Islamist opposition leader Hassan al-Turabi.
Authorities closed it nearly a year ago for publishing articles that
they said were a threat to national security. The ban's lifting comes a
week after President Omar al-Bashir announced the dialogue.Three other newspapers
remain banned in Sudan.
JACKSON, Miss. To hear Natasha Stewart tell it, she was just
trying to help an insecure woman when she helped arrange for her
to get silicone injections in her buttocks, shots that prosecutors say were
deadly. A jury disagreed, convicting Stewart on Friday of culpable negligence
manslaughter.Stewart, of suburban Memphis, Tenn., was found guilty Friday
in Jackson, Miss., in the death of 37-year-old Karima Gordon of Atlanta.Authorities
say Stewart, an adult entertainer also known as Pebbelz Da Model, took
$200 for a referral to the alleged injector and falsely represented that
the injector was a nurse.Stewart had been charged with "depraved-heart murder,"
but jurors decided to go with the option they had been given
to convict Stewart of the lesser charge.

<p style="font-size:xx-small;"> FLORENCE, Italy Amanda Knox's ex-boyfriend left Italy and drove to Austria
while an appeals court deliberated his fate, police said Friday, but he
eventually returned to Italy and surrendered his passport following their
joint conviction for murdering British student Meredith Kercher.Raffaele
Sollecito's lengthy travels were revealed on the same day that Knox made
clear she would never voluntarily return to Italy to serve the 28
1/2-year sentence handed down by an appeals court."I will never go willingly
back to the place," she said on ABC's Good Morning America program.
"I'm going to fight this until the very end. It's not right,
and it's not fair."Lawyers for the pair have vowed to appeal the
conviction, which upheld the 2009 verdict in the murder of Kercher, Knox's
roommate in the university town of Perugia.Kercher was found in a pool
of blood with her throat slit on Nov. 2, 2007, in their
apartment. Knox and Sollecito were arrested a few days later and served
four years in prison before an appeals court acquitted them in 2011.
Italy's high court later threw out that acquittal and ordered a new
trial, resulting in Thursday's conviction.Sollecito's lawyer, Luca Maori,
insisted his client was in the area of Italy's northeastern border with
Austria on Thursday because that's where his current girlfriend lives. He
said Sollecito went voluntarily to police to surrender his passport and
ID papers. But the head of the Udine police squad, Ma
  education students
prayed outside of her home on Friday night, hoping for a quick
resolution to the case."Dear Lord, we are just here for Mr. and
Mrs. Musselman. We just pray that you will give the justice system
guidance," said Karen Andrews, a former student.Court officials told the
station that Musselman, who is not eligible for bond, will remain in
jail until a hearing on March 3. It was unclear early Saturday
if she had an attorney.Click here for more from HighlandsToday.com.Click
