a gun and knife show in White Plains, N.Y.,APA top White House
official acknowledged Sunday that President Obama knew some of his gun-control
initiatives would likely be rejected but defended his efforts and called
on Congress to do the right thing. The president pushed very hard, White
House adviser Dan Pfeiffer said on Fox News Sunday. We knew all
of the (proposals) would not pass right away. With a proposed ban on
semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity gun magazines off the table for
now, Obama appears to be focusing his efforts, including the garnering of
public support, on getting Congress to agree to universal background checks
for gun buyers.Pfeiffer said the president has marshaled people to his side
and polls show a large majority of the public supports background checks. You
cannot get 90 percent of the people to agree on the weather,
Pfeiffer told Fox. The question is whether Congress is going to do
the right thing.A final Senate bill was expected to be released this
week, when Congress returns from Spring Break. But the voting could be
delayed as senators wrangle over the background check issue. The legislation
would come about four months after a mass shooting at a Newtown,
Conn., elementary school in which 20 first-graders and six adults were killed.Pfeiffer
said the president agrees with the efforts so far of Senate Majority
Leader Harry Reid and other sena

faced the same struggles to find priests that have plagued the wider
Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Chuck Frederico, one of the priests who
evaluate Jesuit applicants, says he usually heard from five a week, or
fewer. Then, last month, the former Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio stepped out
on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica the first Jesuit
to be elected pope. The number of queries jumped to four or five
each day."Some guys who made contact in the past weeks are serious
candidates," said Frederico, vocations director for the region from Maine
to Georgia. "This election of the Holy Father has given them reason
to examine this more fully."Jesuits have only started absorbing the novelty
of one of their own leading the church. Most were so shocked,
they Googled to confirm the connection before they dared to celebrate. Robert

signature tasting-menu Italian restaurant on all Princess ships -- has some
new twists on Royal Princess. Guests can order a la carte for
dinner, and also get lunch there for the first time. Another first
is the Pub Lunch to be served in the Wheelhouse Bar and
adjacent Crown Grill, consisting of traditionally British fish-and-chips
or bangers and mash.Novel and Handy Entertainment FeaturesRoyal Princess
is unique in the entertainment department. The ship will introduce a new
concept called Princess Live! essentially a TV studio that broadcasts to
passenger staterooms day and night. The programming day will start with
a morning show, followed by visits from officers, entertainers, enrichment
speakers and more until midnight. No cruise ship has ever tried this,
andCalouri says the goal is never more than 15 minutes without something
on the air.Another first will be the free Intranet access from any
Wi-Fi capable device, allowing users to see the daily schedules, read about
entertainment, ports of call, and other ship details. Going a step further
is the no-charge interactive TV in every stateroom. You will be able
to pull up TV shows and movies on demand and never

general election is June 25, for the open Senate seat of Democrat
John Kerry.Another environmental group spending big money to defeat Lynch
is the NextGen Committee, which has reported spending more than $196,000,
according to Federal Election Commission filings. The group is backed by
California billionaire Thomas Steyer, who has called on Lynch to oppose
the pipeline. NextGen has spent $54,700 for an aerial banner that read
"Steve Lynch says: Go Habs! And Go Canadian Dirty Oil."The banner appears
to question Lynchs loyalty to the Boston Bruins. The "Habs" is the
nickname for the Montreal Canadiens. The banner was flown over downtown
Boston ahead of a matchup between the two hockey teams.NextGen also spent
more than $50,000 for video mobile billboards and $40,000 for online advertisements.
That's an apparent violation of an agreement signed by Lynch and Markey
known as the "People's Pledge," which is designed to discourage radio, television
and Internet ads by outside groups. If there is a violation, the
candidate who benefits agrees to pay half the cost of the ad
to a charity named by their rival.Markey has made environmental issues one

that highlighted his role in holding BP responsible for the 2010 oil
spill in the Gulf of Mexico.Another big supporter of Markey is the
