CAIRO A Cairo court says it has acquitted a cameraman for
the Qatar-based network Al-Jazeera, after he was held for months on charges
of committing acts of violence.Mohamed Badr, a cameraman for Al-Jazeera's
channel in Egypt, was arrested following clashes in July. The court said
in a statement Sunday that a judge acquitted him and 62 others.Badr's
acquittal comes amid a wider crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood, after
the military's ouster of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi on July 3. Al-Jazeera
journalists have been targeted for their coverage of Brotherhood protesters.
Authorities have long depicted the network as pro-Brotherhood.On Wednesday,
Egypt said 20 journalists, including four foreigners working for Al-Jazeera,
will face trial on charges of joining or aiding a terrorist group
and endangering national security.
A New Jersey mother says her fifth grade sons school has repeatedly
taken her childs lunch and thrown it away over unpaid cafeteria balances
-- despite having apologized for doing as much in the past. This to
me is a form of bullying," Amy Ross told NBC 10 after
the latest incident, earlier in January, involving her 10-year-old son,
Jake, who has a form of autism called Aspergers Syndrome, and officials
at Smithville Elementary School in Galloway Township, N.J. Its between the
parents and the cafeteria. Its not between the child and the lunch
lady. Let the kids eat their lunch."Rosss questioning of the school comes
the same week the Salt Lake School District in Utah made headlines
for doing the same thing. The Salt Lake Tribune reports Uintah Elementary
School officials in Salt Lake City replaced about 32 elementary school students'
$2 lunches with fruit and milk on Tuesday because of insufficient or
negative balances. The Tribune cites a school district spokesman as later
explaining cafeteria workers could not tell who was behind on their lunch
accounts until after a child was given their food.Once a child showed
a negative balance, the already-issued lunch was reportedly confiscated
and thrown away for sanitary reasons."I think its despicable," Erica Lukes,
whose 11-year-old daughter saw her lunch replaced, told the paper. "These
are young children that shouldnt be punished or humiliated for something
the parents obviously need to clear

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">BIG RAPIDS, Mich. Michigan authorities announced Sunday they have charged
a 20-year-old man with shooting a Ferris State University student at his
off-campus apartment, while police continued searching for a man they say
killed one Michigan State University student and wounded another near that
school.DeCory D. Downing is charged with attempted murder and having a firearm
in a felony, said Ferris State University Public Safety Director Bruce Borkovich.Downing
is from Macomb County in suburban Detroit, isn't a student at Ferris
State and has an "extensive criminal record," Borkovich told MLive.com.
Downing was being held in the Mecosta County Jail and expected to
be arraigned Monday in district court.Authorities had no immediate information
on whether he has a lawyer.Police made the arrest late Saturday at
an on-campus apartment, school spokesman Sandy Gholston said. He said police
also were questioning a woman. The victim's injuries aren't life-threatening.Investigators
didn't yet know a motive in the shooting, Borkovich said Sunday. He
said there was a party nearby at the time of the shooting
before dawn Saturday, but Borkovich said it was unclear whether both men
were at the party or knew each other."Early indications are that it
may have just been an argument that went bad," he said.Classes and
activities on campus were canceled or suspended Saturday but will operate
normally Monday, Gholston said.In East Lansing, police said Sunday t

praying in diverse traditions and seeking common good for the entire community,
God will be naturally moved to provide the devotees relief from drought
so that it will not affect their quality of life, livelihood and
health," Zed said. The special events were held two weeks after the federal
government designated portions of 11 drought-ridden Western and Central
states as primary natural disaster areas, highlighting the financial strain
the lack of snow and rain is likely to bring to farmers
in those regions. The announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture
included counties in Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Kansas, Texas, Utah,
Arkansas, Hawaii, Idaho, Oklahoma and California.California officials announced
Friday they won't send any water from the state's vast reservoir system
to local agencies beginning this spring, an unprecedented move that affects
drinking water supplies for 25 million people and irrigation for 1 million
acres of farmland.A snow survey on Thursday in the Sierra Nevada, one
of the state's key water sources, found the water content in the
snowpack is just 12 percent of normal. Some Nevada farmers have said they're
considering not irrigating fields after three years of below-normal rain
and snow. While Utah also is in dire need of moisture, the agricultural
community remains optimistic after a day of prayer and fasting, said Leland
Hogan, president of the Utah F
