Hi there...
I don't use xrn myself, but a glance at the manapage says that it uses
rn-style KILL files, but that there are some restrictions, mentioned
later (in the BUGS) section:
Incomplete KILL file support: the THRU line is not updated,
the only actions supported are 'm', 'j', and 's', and
matching is always done against both the ``From:'' and
``Subject:'' lines of postings.
I'd guess that you are using one or more of these features; if not,
there may be some other bug, and you should let us know.
That said, I just got the most recent beta-test version of xrn, and
its manpage says exactly the same thing as the version we have
installed now. Maintenance of the program itself was recently taken
over by a new person, since the older people hadn't done anything with
it in a long while, so perhaps this will be fixed at some point, but,
honestly, I don't expect it to happen anytime soon. Realistically,
I'd suggest right now that you use either trn or tin, both in the sipb
locker. The first, trn, is an updated and enhanced version of rn that
includes support for threading articles in an efficient manner. The
second is also includes support for threading (rn and xrn don't), but
is not based on rn at all; rather, it's user interface is menu-driven,
and is distantly related to a mail program called `elm'. If you
really want to use the mouse, tin has some small support for
mouseclicks when run in an xterm; trn may or may not have similar
support.
