X VERSION, RELEASE, and PATCH LEVEL:
X11R4
CLIENT MACHINE and OPERATING SYSTEM:
80486 running Linux 1.1.51
NEWS SYSTEM and VERSION:
InterNet
SYNOPSIS:
strange behavior while trying to read newsgroup sci.engr.mech
could not read at all for a while.
then many unread articles were suddenly missing/marked read.
DESCRIPTION:
sci.mech.engr, a news group I am subscribed to, had over 200 unread articles, but
I could not read them at all last night. This morning I was able to read the
newgroup, but there were only 7 unread articles. When I tried "List old" no more
articles appeared, but when I tried "Prev" the previous article appeared
(although it was marked read, even thought it should not have been). When I
pressed "List old" again the old messages dissappeared again, and I just saw the
seven new articles.
I am using the xrn that is currently in /mit/sipb/linuxbin.
