error message on DEC's

Hi. When I login at a DECstation, I get a "hosttype not found" message or
something like that. I get a ">" for my prompt, and many commands, including
"add _______" don't work. What's wrong?
I have made the following customizations to my account:
(1) switched to /afs/sipb/project/tcsh/tcsh
(2) have a custom prompt "set prompt = '\n[%~] [%t|%h]\nIfung Lu% ' "
(3) have a .startup.X file
(4) made some changes to the colors of different windows
However, I"m still using mwm.
Login from IBM's and Sun's is fine. Although I don't use DEC's much, it still
is bad when I occasionally do. What's the problem, and is there a fix?
