Xdvi does not have any explicit PostScript support, so it's not going to
look good no matter what.  By the way, for the time it takes to run xdvi
on a dvi file referencing PS fonts, you can probably create a PostScript
file of you document and preview it with a PostScript previewer like gs
or ghostview (in outland) or dxpsview (if you are on a DECstation.)  It
is my opinion that xdvi should only be used if TeX fonts are used, and
if manages not to crash when you use PostScript fonts instead, it's
doing the best it can be asked to.
