What's wrong:
When I enter something in the "Search Keyword" field, the first
character does not show, though the cursor advances. Typing something,
backspacing over it, and typing again also results in the leftmost
character not showing. Typing something, repositioning the cursor
between the first and second characters, and backspacing, does cause
the new first character (formerly the second) to be displayed.
