I think it should be mentioned that thesaurus has an X-application,
xthesaurus.  When the switch was made, I too had my problems with the
new format.  However, after I made the switch from thesaurus to
xthesaurus, it made life a lot easier.  Just use ctrl-s to find the
word you looked up, and the words in the same entry are synonyms like
a regular thesaurus.

But, I still believe thesaurus without the "x" is almost useless now.
Using "more," as in thesaurus | more, may help though.
