Something has been changed to one of the most often-used pieces of software
that I find rather disturbing.
I have used a DECstation and a SUN running 7.6C. In both cases, running
xdvi on a simple file resulted in xdvi reporting that it was unable to find
*any* fonts. None of them. This can be reproduced, using either
/usr/athena/bin/dvi, or /afs/sipb/project/sipb/$bindir/xdvi.
Here are my TEXFONTS and TEXPKS variables, also:

I verified that it still works fine on a 7.4 machine.
This is an EXTREMELY major bug...I would appreciate a response anytime soon,
even if just to acknowledge that it is being looked into.
