The man page makes no mention of the CONFIGDIR environment variable, which
is where it looks to find the psfonts.map file.  I was hoping this could
be added.  Reason: I modified one of the existing PostScript fonts (to
have reverse slant), and had to add an entry to that file.  However,
when I created the new file, I could only get it to be read if it was
in the cwd.  I had to eventually scan the source code for hours before
finding the name of the env. var. that was used for the path of this
file.

Anyway, it would be a useful addition, and certainly not very time-consuming.
