Not sure whose domain this issue lies. Gnu is sort of unmaintained, but

What were you trying to do?
Read info using the 'info' reader.
What's wrong:
Typing, for instance, 'm gcc' to read the gcc info fails,
because the gcc files aren't there.
What should have happened:
I should have been able to read the gcc info files.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
Various info files are in /afs/athena/project/gnu/info and
/afs/sipb/project/gnu/info. A lot of them are also in
people's home directories, because the default info menu is
rather sparse. Athena should centralize FSF info files in
/mit/sipb/lib/elisp/info so that this kind of duplication
isn't necessary and to make it easier to read relevant info
under both emacs and info.
