After running out of space in sipbsrc several times in the past week,
I am trying to clean it up. Most of the cleanup is straightforward
compressing of old sources that we don't use anymore into archives and
such. However, there are a couple things I'm not sure about which I'd
like to confirm before going ahead with:
1. There are discuss and discuss.new source directories in
/mit/sipbsrc/uus/vs2, and neither of them is up-to-date. Assuming
that the directories in the discuss locker are the up-to-date
sources, can we delete these two directories from the sipbsrc
locker and either go with the discuss locker from now on or put the
most up-to-date sources into sipbsrc?
2. Can the "ogre" program be moved into the games locker, where it
[apparently] belongs?
3. Can the source directories et.old and dvi2ps.old be compressed into
an archive? Can whereis.c be compressed and the binary removed,
since it's a shell built-in for 99.9% of athena now? Can xdvi,
xdvi.v, xdvi.v2 and xdvi.x11 be archived (and later deleted) in
anticipation of amgreene's placing the sources from his homedir
into the locker?
4. Can the sources to xman.10 be deleted? I've got them archived now,
because I don't want to delete them since I don't know how
extensive (if any) the local changes made to them here by the SIPB
are.
5. What is the purpose of the [empty] files vtpasswd and vtpasswd.2?
RVD password files?
6. Why is there an empty directory, owned by eichin, called "basic" in
the sources?
More questions will follow as I come across them....
Thanks for any help you can give.
