Umm...I don't have a problem, per se, but I'd like to know what it takes, rather
what one must do to start a new news group. I apologize if I am wasting someone's
time, as this is my only lead so far. Any info would be appreciated.
Have you read the postings in news.announce.newusers? If not, why
not? All new USENET users are expected to read them, especially when
they want to be so bold as to try to get a new newsgroup created.
In particular, I suggest you read at least these two postings:
Subject: What is Usenet?
Newsgroups: news.announce.newusers,news.admin,news.answers
Subject: How to Create a New Newsgroup
Newsgroups: news.announce.newusers,news.groups,news.admin,news.announce.newgroups,news.answers
Available in the indicated USENET newsgroup(s), or via anonymous ftp from
pit-manager.mit.edu (18.172.1.27) in the files:
/pub/usenet/news.answers/what-is-usenet/part1
/pub/usenet/news.answers/creating-newsgroups/part1
Also available from mail-server@pit-manager.mit.edu by sending a mail
message containing any or all of:
send usenet/news.answers/what-is-usenet/part1
send usenet/news.answers/creating-newsgroups/part1
Send a message containing "help" to get general information about the
mail server.
Reading the other postings in news.announce.newusers as well would not
be a bad idea.
