Twice now I've been reading news with gnus when it started saying
nntpd not running.
I was able to restart gnus and it seemed to fix everything.
There's no bug here; the news server was having trouble and your nntpd
*was* dying. If you notice this again, please let us know, because
the problems with the news server are supposed to have been fixed.
