This seemed like a reasonable place to send this note, even though I'm
about to complain about a bug-fix, rather than a bug.

The new version of fig2dev apparently sees fit to edit the content of
text objects, while the old version would just pass the full text
string without change. I was making use of the old version's behavior
by putting latex math formulas in my xfig pictures. The new version
does everything it can to prevent this from working (rejecting the '\'
and '^' characters, quoting '$', etc).

Is there a reasonable way to get around this (without hand-editing the
fig2dev output)? Would the old version of fig2dev work on the new
xfig file format? I would guess not, but if I'm wrong, does somebody
still have a copy of the old program?
