Ken, I'm afraid that I must disagree.
The xarchie client has its uses just as the perl client does. In
fact, it is a much more user-friendly, easy-to-use interface than the
perl client. Since the SIPB's job is to help people, and since people
have asked for the xarchie client, I see no reason for us not to
install it.
I have therefore installed it, for the VAX, RT, DECstation and RS/6000
platforms. It should show up in the locker some time in the next 24
hours.
Incidentally, the average size of the binary on all four platforms is
640k, not 1 meg, so the disk space issue isn't such an issue. It's
even less of an issue since we *did* have enough space for me to
install it.
