For one thing your subject line of "sipb" is uninformative. Also, bug
reports on programs in the sipb locker should be sent to bug-sipb, not
to bugs. I have forwarded this message to bug-sipb, on the off-chance
that there is some error in the man page, which I doubt. It seems to be
explained accurately.

It's not our X server. On the RS/6000s, we use the vendor (IBM)
supplied X server, which is X11R3-based. If and when IBM decides to
provide an up-to-date X server, it will be most likely be fixed.

What were you trying to do?
I'm trying to use the line

xscreensaver.useBackground: true

in my .Xresources file.

What's wrong:
  -B (useBackground = true)
Causes the root window's pattern or color to be used as
the background of the screen when xscreensaver is
blanked or locked. This option is ineffective on IBM
RS/6000 workstations, since it doesn't work properly
due to a bug in the X server.
[Please replace this line with your information.]

If you know there's a bug, why don't you fix it?

What should have happened:
I should have seen the background picture.

Please describe any relevant documentation references:
