Athena picked it up from SIPB, when Jeff Schiller was working on some
of the admin code for Kerberos, and I suggested that the com_err and
ss libraries might be of some use. SIPB developed them (in fact, I
wrote most of the code) as part of the discuss project. Athena's use
of them demostrates their utility, but I still consider them to be a
SIPB project, and intend to treat them as such.

Documentation (including, I suppose, man pages) will be forthcoming
with the next version of the software. (I've been making a few
changes, some enhancements.) Unfortunately, this isn't topmost in my
priority queue. If you would like to see documentation as it exists
now, try looking under /mit/raeburn/Work, in the "et" and "ss"
subdirectories, or maybe "doc". I won't guarantee accuracy or
completeness of documentation there for any particular version.
