Assuming that an int is 4 bytes long is another bad assumption the library makes. As long as an `int' temporary is used (or a routine that handles integral values without relying on their being of known sizes), using the enumerated type in the structure is reasonable. (This isn't the case at the moment; I'll deal with that after the OSF paperwork is done.)
