The second meeting of the DCNS recognition group was held on Tuesday, May
19, 1992. Kim Carney, Tom Coppeto, Mark Curby, Cec d'Oliveira, and Dave
Hogarth were present. Rita and Miki were away this week.

The group began construction of an Affinity Diagram focusing on the
question: What issues should we consider in putting together a
reward/recognition system for DCNS?" The group captured over 50 ideas on
"post-its" before the meeting ended. The results of this preliminary
brainstorming are now hanging outside of Cec's office. The goal for next
week's meeting will be to consolidate and sort these thoughts.

Cec suggested that we move forward with putting up a public bulletin board
for posting informal thank you notes. Several issues were raised including
whether we would need to get an individual's ok before posting, whether we
ought to do this electronically, and how the board would be "managed".
This discussion indicates that it is premature to do this and further
discussion on all the issues is necessary before going "public".

After discussion the group agreed to set up a mailing list and a private
discuss meeting called "kudos" that the group could use to circulate
examples of "thanks" notes that might be posted publicly at some point.
The "thanks" list and meeting will be public and will be used for the
group's administrative work.

Tom will set up another mailing list and private discuss meeting "kudos"
which the group will use to circulate examples of "thanks" notes that might
be posted on a public bulletin board at some point.

ACTION ITEMS:

1. Tom will set up "kudos" as a private mailing list and discuss meeting.

2. Group will stop by the affinity diagram outside Cec's office this week
to review and begin sorting the "postits" prior to next weeks meeting.
Next week's agenda will be to sort and structure the ideas.

3. David will order a light lunch for next week. Meeting will begin after
the staff meeting.
