Updated to reflect last week's meeting:
1. The program should provide equal opportunity for all DCNS staff to be
recognized for their accomplishments including student and hourly staff.
DCNS-affiliates (individuals from other IS, MIT, or external organizations)
should also be considered eligible candidates for recognition within our
program.
2. Criteria for recognition should be developed and communicated.
3. The program should not recognize "trivial things".
4. The program ought to encourage (and facilitate) both informal "thank
yous" and more formal recognition.
5. KISS -- keep it simple, stupid -- in program design.
6. The program should not replace existing processes such as the annual
review or positive feedback from managers to staff.
7. Formal recognition of a staff member must be approved by that
individual's manager.
8. Formal recognition should be documented in an employee's departmental
personnel records.
9. The program should strive to avoid making people feel uncomfortable.
10. Staff input should be sought regularly for ideas and for feedback
about the program.
