Yesterday at the Unix projects meeting there was some discussion about
source tree maintenance and splitting off 7.6 to start 7.7. This
message is to follow up with more details as to what was and will be
done.

What we started doing yesterday was to leave the active source tree
exactly where it was, and make a copy of it to be the 7.6 archive In
the process of doing this, we discovered that DOT is still offline and
we didn't have enough disk space to complete it. We thought that we
had gotten enough done to be useful, and left it like that.

We have since discovered that there are patch releases in progress
which are complicated by the source tree clones. I am going to throw
away the copy we made yesterday, and do this again in a week when the
patches are built and we have enough disk space to do a complete copy.

The way things are:

/source -> /afs/rel-eng/project/release/current/source

/afs/rel-eng/project/release/7.4/...
/afs/rel-eng/project/release/7.5/...
/afs/rel-eng/project/release/7.6 -> current
/afs/rel-eng/project/release/current

The way things will be:

/afs/rel-eng/project/release/7.4/...
/afs/rel-eng/project/release/7.5/...
/afs/rel-eng/project/release/7.6/... (this will be a snapshot of current)
/afs/rel-eng/project/release/7.7 -> current
/afs/rel-eng/project/release/current

Hopefully I will be able to determine that 7.5 is no longer in use and
can be deleted as well.
