Possible solution....
Needs to be fixed in xlogin and login....
Instead of trying to just simple read the directory, how about an access
call to see if you can write as well... This will solve the issue for
everyone unless they have a world writable directory. (which is stupid
but I wouldn't put it past our community).
My solution is a part work around, but we need a better solution...
